    Prasad

    प्रसाद

    What does Prasad mean?

Prasad means 'grace' or 'favor'. The practice is simple: whatever is eaten or used is first offered to God with devotion, then received as his gift. This transforms eating from consumption into communion.

Verse 9.26 is the beloved basis: 'Whoever offers me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water — that devout offering of the pure-hearted I accept.' Verse 3.13 adds that those who eat the remnants of sacrifice are freed from all sins.
