    Shraddha

    श्रद्धा

    What does Shraddha mean?

Shraddha is more than belief: it is the orientation of the heart that shapes character. Verse 17.3 says, 'A person is made of their shraddha; whatever their faith is, that they become.'

Chapter 17 classifies faith by the three gunas: sattvic faith worships the divine, rajasic faith worships power and wealth, tamasic faith worships lower forces. The quality of one's faith determines the quality of one's life.
