    Dhyana

    ध्यान

    What does Dhyana mean?

Dhyana is the stilling of the mind's fluctuations until it rests steadily on the self or the divine. Chapter 6 gives practical instructions: a firm seat in a clean place, the body held erect, the gaze steady, the mind withdrawn from sense objects.

Krishna is realistic about the difficulty — the mind is restless — but promises that with practice and detachment it can be mastered, and that the meditator attains supreme peace. Even a little practice, he says, is never lost.
