    योग

    What does Yoga mean?

Yoga comes from the root 'yuj', to yoke or unite. In the Gita it is far broader than physical postures: Krishna gives two famous definitions — 'equanimity is yoga' (2.48) and 'yoga is skill in action' (2.50).

The Gita maps four great paths of yoga: Karma Yoga (selfless action), Jnana Yoga (knowledge), Dhyana Yoga (meditation), and Bhakti Yoga (devotion). Each suits a different temperament, and all lead to the same goal.
